Every number is easier with someone beside you.
Your property taxes are usually not the same as the current owner's. Texas over-65 and disabled-person
exemptions, and the school-tax ceiling, belong to the owner and generally do not transfer to a buyer. The 10%
appraised-value cap resets when a home changes hands, so a new owner is typically re-appraised at the purchase
price. That is why we show a range instead of one number.
Estimate only — not tax, legal, or financial advice, and not a loan offer or approval. Exemption amounts, tax rates, and eligibility are set by each taxing unit (school, county, city, hospital, college, MUD) and change every year; figures are current for the 2025 tax year and are not guaranteed. Confirm your specific exemptions with the county appraisal district (Collin, Denton, Dallas or Tarrant CAD) and a licensed CPA or tax attorney — and the mortgage with a licensed lender.
